Incorporating state-of-the-art design, the Queensland Government’s vision is to deliver health facilities like no other that will cater for the huge population growth in South East Queensland. Gold Coast University Hospital will be well-equipped with the latest technology to assist staff in offering the highest grade of care and comfort to all patients. Superior Group, NWCI Pty Ltd, Mewcastle Pty Ltd and TAF Group construction are four of the largest construction teams working alongside Rondo to create a highly designed, top of the line health facility.
To date, 150,000 lineal metres of Rondo’s Steel Stud Drywall Framing System has been used on this project which included Rondo’s newly launched MAXItrack®, the Slotted Deflection Head Track. MAXItrack® has slots in the flange spaced at 30mm centres, enabling studs to be secured to the track on both sides, and removing the necessity of a nogging track installed 100mm down from the head – ensuring increased head track structural capacity and a reduction of time spent on site.
In addition, Rondo is continuing to supply the hospital with our Shaftwall One-Way Erect System, KEY-LOCK® Concealed Suspended Ceiling System, PANTHER® Access Panels, EXANGLE® Plastering Beads and DUO® Exposed Grid Ceiling System.
Rondo was heavily involved in the early design stages, working with GCUH Architecture for partition details to accommodate all loading from grab rails, shelve loads, isolation rooms and lead lined walls. This new facility is comprised of seven main buildings with a total floor space of around 170,000m2, in contrast to the current 54,000m2 of floor space, seeing the university hospital tripling in size and was opened in December 2012.
Being heavily involved in large Hospital developments, such as the Gold Coast University Hospital reinforces Rondo’s position in being able to provide the very best technical expertise and service support, particularly in these types of building projects.
