The Adelaide Oval is one of the most historical sporting venues in Australia hosting international and domestic cricket as well as Australian Rules football since 1870. It is considered one of the most ‘picturesque’ stadiums in the world, and has been remodelled to hold an additional 15,000 spectators to ensure it’s international reputation is maintained into the 21st century.
Before any construction could commence, the existing structure had to be demolished with the exception of the historic brick arches which were retained in the new grandstand.
Project ceiling contractor, Built Environs, has an almost two decade relationship with Rondo and this partnership, along with project architects Hassell & Cox, allowed all parties to work together efficiently in order to find solutions for any design obstacles that occurred during construction.
In total, Rondo supplied 100,000 linear metres of KEY-LOCK® Furring Channel and Steel Stud Drywall Framing System for the site fit out.
The Western Grandstand was completed in November 2010, just in time for the Ashes series – and the complete remodel at Adelaide Oval was completed in late 2012.
