Northsun Commercial Interiors designed and built the fourth hospital in Bundaberg. Located at 51 Commercial Street in Bundaberg, this private medical facility benefits the community enormously. In particular public patients needing cataract surgery, after Bundaberg Private Day Hospital and Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service, announced a public-private partnership agreement.
Well-known Bundaberg ophthalmologist Dr Jai Panchapakesan had been looking after the state of the art facility with patient appointments and operations starting in mid-2019. As a result of the Architect and Builder working together the project was completed in just 5 months.
Local contractors and loyal to Rondo, Tom and Patrick Fogarty from Fogarty Bros who are also the main commercial plasters in Bundaberg for over 15 years were contracted to install the internal and external linings. Due to the region’s conditions, external wall designs for cyclonic conditions was needed, pre-construction meetings were needed to discuss benefits and limitations. The builder utilised extra structural steel where needed and custom suit windows to fit the Rondo design.
The Fogarty Bros had not installed an external wall frame of this magnitude before, however, with Rondo’s design and help by Rondo representatives, the Fogarty Bros found the whole process easy to understand and did an amazing job. The job had a tight time frame. Design solutions were needed quickly and readily onsite due to the job being a design and construct. With the onsite team and Rondo working together proactively, delivery was 100% on time which, enabled all teams to stay ahead of time.
