Contractor: Ceiling and Wall Contractors
Architect: Hassell Architects
Completion Date: November 2010
The Adelaide Oval is one of the most historical sporting venues in Australia hosting international and domestic cricket as well as Australian Rules Football since 1870. Now one of the most picturesque stadiums in the world, it has been remodelled to hold an additional 15,000 spectators to ensure its international reputation is maintained into the 21st century.
Before any construction could commence, the existing structure had to be demolished, with the exception of the historic brick arches which were retained in the new grandstand.
Project ceiling contractor, Ceiling & Wall Contractors, have an almost two-decade relationship with Rondo and this partnership, along with Hassell Architects, allowed all parties to work together efficiently in order to find solutions for any design obstacles that occurred during construction.
In total, Rondo supplied 100,000 lineal metres of KEY-LOCK® Furring Channel and Steel Stud Drywall Framing System for the site fit out.
The Western Grandstand was completed in November 2010, just in time for the Ashes series – and the complete remodel at Adelaide Oval is scheduled for completion in 2012.
